The National Ski Areas Association in Lakewood, Colo., is recommending that member resorts require face coverings on chair lifts, frequently clean surfaces and send home employees with COVID-19 symptoms. The trade group's members include more than 300 alpine resorts and 400 suppliers.

"I am confident that the ski industry will continue to lead by example during these incredibly dynamic times. Everything has changed—except for our industry's guiding principle: We always have, and always will, put the health and safety of our staff, guests and communities first," Kelly Pawlak, NSAA's CEO stated in a letter at the beginning of its 10-page "Ski Well, Be Well" guide to operating best practices during the pandemic.

NSAA based its advice on scientific guidelines from experts. The information is also included in webinars on the NSAA website.

"Skiers and riders nationwide can expect to see requirements for face coverings, physical distancing protocols like line markers or one-way traffic flows and enhanced cleaning and disinfection, especially in high-touch areas," Adrienne Saia Isaac, the association's director of marketing and communications, told Aspen Daily News.
